Most modern modems do not connect to a computer via standard USB cables, so the control of these devices has its own peculiarities. A standard modem connects to a computer via an Ethernet network cable. That is why the modem settings are turned on in a not quite standard way.
Instructions
Step 1
Connect the modem to the network, make sure that the power indicator is on. Then connect the modem to your computer to the network card slot. After that, the Ethernet indicator on the modem panel should light up. The modem is ready for configuration.
Step 2
Launch any internet browser. The browser version does not matter, both the latest version of the program and the very first version can be used.
Step 3
Review the documentation that came with your modem. It should indicate the address at which the computer can communicate with the modem. In addition to the address, the instructions must contain a username and password to access the modem settings interface.
Step 4
Enter the required address into the address bar of your browser. Typically, the modem address is 192.168.x.y. The x and y numbers vary depending on the type of modem. After that, a dialog box should open in which you must enter your login and password to access the modem.
