With constant use of the Windows operating system, it is recommended to create special archives. They allow you to restore the operating state of the OS even in the event of damage or loss of the hard disk.
Necessary
- - system image;
- - Windows installation disc.
Instructions
Step 1
To create an image of the Windows 7 operating system, you must use the standard functions of this system. Open the control panel by selecting the appropriate item in the "Start" menu. Go to the "System and Security" menu. Open the "Backup and Restore" item.
Step 2
In the left column of the window that opens, find the "Create a system image" button and click it. Wait until the procedure for collecting information about connected hard drives and network devices is completed. Select the hardware that will host the operating system image. It is best to use an external hard drive or DVD media kit.
Step 3
If you want to save the Windows image to your working hard drive, make sure you allocate some storage space ahead of time. It is necessary to use not one of the partitions of the hard drive, but its unallocated area. Remove one of the local drives if necessary. Click the Next button after selecting the device.
Step 4
Examine the list of partitions that will be included in the system image and click the Archive button. Wait for the system image creation to complete.
Step 5
To restore Windows settings, turn on the computer after inserting an installation or recovery disc into the drive. Select the boot priority from the DVD drive and wait for the program to start.
Step 6
Open the Advanced Recovery Options menu and navigate to System Restore. Now highlight the Use Previously Created Image option and click Next.
Step 7
Specify the location where the Windows image is stored and click the "Recover" button. This procedure can take over an hour. After it completes, restart your computer. Select the option to boot from your hard drive. Make sure the system was restored correctly.
