Contrary to popular belief, on a laptop, just like on a computer, you can record sound. The laptop has an integrated sound card, so you only need to have an audio recording software and a microphone to record sound.
It is necessary
- Laptop with sound card
- Sound recording software
- Microphone
- Adapter
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to choose a program for recording sound. You can use the standard Windows program "Sound Recorder" (to launch it, open "Start" - "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "Sound Recorder"), or choose another paid or free program for recording audio. Some of the most popular are such powerful sound editors as Sound Forge, Audition, etc. Choose the software product that suits your taste the most.
Step 2
Prepare your microphone. Typically, the input jack on the sound card has a minijack interface and the microphone plug has a jack interface. For professional microphones, the plug usually has an XLR interface. Accordingly, in order to connect a microphone to a sound card, you need to purchase a special adapter in advance.
Step 3
Connect the microphone to the laptop sound card. Open "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Sound". Find the Recording tab and adjust the microphone volume. Speak a test phrase into the microphone, such as “One, two, three,” to make sure it works.
Step 4
Start the selected audio recording software. Create a new file (project) and click the burn button. On the program toolbar, it is most often performed by an icon in the form of a red circle. The recording is in progress, use the microphone to record the sounds you need. When you need to interrupt the recording, press the "Stop" button (as a rule, the icon in the form of a small square). Depending on the complexity of the selected program, if you wish, you can carry out additional processing of the recorded audio track. Then save the file.
