The distribution kit may include not only files that are responsible for installing the program (with the exe extension), but also files of other types, for example, multimedia, graphics, etc.

For operating systems of the Windows family, there are several types of distribution distributions: as an independent file (exe or bat), as an archive (rar, zip, cab, etc.), and also as an automatically unpacking file (7Zip archives).

Thus, you get a batch file that contains all the necessary files, the extraction of which is called installing the program on the hard disk of the computer. Some distributions need not only to be unpacked, but also to be installed independently by running the Setup.exe or Install.exe file.

It is worth noting that an installation package for a video game can also act as a distribution kit. The only difference is that the latest games are delivered on several discs at once, which significantly increases the installation time.

The term “distribution kit” can be supplemented with CD / DVD-disks from which operating systems are installed. After opening such a disk in a running system, an autoload window appears on the screen, which contains information about the version of the distribution kit on the media and its advantages over other assemblies. If the operating system has not yet been installed, this disc will help you fix this problem by displaying the prompts you need on the monitor.

The autoloading of disks with the distribution of operating systems occurs automatically and does not depend on the version and assembly that is recorded on it.
