There are several methods you can use to uninstall the Windows Vista operating system. Unfortunately, many of them are based on the presence of special programs or additional devices.
Necessary
- - another PC;
- - Partition Manager.
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest and smartest method is to use a different computer. Turn off your PC and remove the hard drive. Connect the hard drive to the second computer and turn it on. Hold down the F8 key. In the menu that appears, select the required hard drive to continue booting from it.
Step 2
Now open the "My Computer" menu. Right-click on the volume of the partition of your hard drive where the Windows Vista operating system is installed and select "Format". In the menu that opens, specify the type of the future file system and click the "Start" button. Shut down your computer after formatting the partition is complete and connect the hard drive to your PC.
Step 3
If you do not have this opportunity, then use the Partition Manager program. Install it and restart your computer. After starting the utility, select the "Advanced User Mode" item. Find the graphic image of the local disk where Windows Vista is installed and right-click on it. Select "Format Partition".
Step 4
In the window that appears, specify the file system and confirm your choice by clicking the "Yes" button. Now go to the "Changes" menu and activate the "Apply pending changes" item. After a while, a window will appear asking you to restart your computer. Select "Restart Now". The program will restart the computer and continue formatting the partition in DOS mode.
Step 5
If you want to install a new operating system, then start this process and format the system disk partition in the appropriate window. It is not recommended to install another OS on top of Windows Vista. This can cause serious disruption to the new system. Sometimes the process of installing a new OS will not complete at all if the system partition has not been formatted.
