With the standard settings in the Windows operating system, two input languages are used, but this is far from the limit. Using the language bar, you can install additional languages and keyboard settings. In addition, it sometimes happens that the language bar disappears from the taskbar and needs to be returned. This requires opening the language bar and setting certain parameters.

Instructions

Step 1

To open the language panel, go to the "Start" menu and open the "Control Panel". If the control panel is displayed in the form of categories, select the section "Date, time, language and regional standards", in the window that opens, left-click on the icon "Language and regional standards". If the control panel has a classic look, select the Regional and Language Options icon right away. The language bar is open.

Step 2

To install an additional language, go to the "Languages" tab, in the "Languages and text input services" section, click the "Details" button. On the "Parameters" tab, click the "Add" button - the "Add input language" window will appear. Select the language you need from the first drop-down list, the value in the second field should change automatically. If this does not happen, set the desired keyboard layout yourself. Click OK to confirm your selection.

Step 3

If the language bar is not displayed on the taskbar, on the same Settings tab, click the Language bar button in the Settings section and select the box next to Display the language bar on the desktop. Click OK to confirm your selection. If the language bar icon does not appear, right-click on the taskbar in any free space. In the drop-down menu, select the "Toolbar" item and set the marker in the submenu to the "Language bar" item.

Step 4

If you have the Punto Switcher utility installed, there is usually no need for a standard language bar for simple text entry. In the event that you do not see the language bar from the utility, go to the Punto Switcher settings. This can be done in several ways. From the Start menu select the Utilities section, in the submenu click on the Punto Switcher icon or find the punto.exe file in the folder located in the C: / Program Files / Yandex / Punto Switcher directory. In the window that opens, on the "General" tab, set the marker in the "Show icon on the taskbar" field, click the "Apply" button, close the window.
