With a fairly wide range of customization options, the Opera browser remains "light" and high-speed means of accessing web pages. The developers have provided the ability to install this program for any type of operating system, and also created versions for phones and tablets. If your Internet access is poor, and you have to download large files often, it is better to set Opera as the default browser. The easiest way to do this is immediately after installing the program on your computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Go to the official website of the Opera program and select the distribution kit that matches your operating system. You can choose two installation methods: with and without saving the program distribution kit on your hard disk. It is better to choose the first method, however, when installing from a hard drive, you will need a network connection.
Step 2
When the download is complete, run the downloaded installer by double-clicking it. Remember to keep the internet connected. The program will install the browser without any of your intervention. At the very end of the installation, the installer will check the system configuration, find that other browsers are installed on the computer, one of which may already be installed by default, and immediately display a window with a corresponding notification. When asked by the system "Define Opera as the default application for browsing the web?" answer in the affirmative by clicking the "Yes" button.
Step 3
In this case, the browser will immediately be configured with the default settings. But how to install an unfamiliar application without trying its capabilities in practice? Of course, if you already have Opera installed, but you are just getting acquainted with its features, then by default you most likely have a different browser configured. But now you appreciated the merits of Opera and decided to use it as your main program for browsing the web. Then you will have to make small changes to the program settings.
Step 4
Launch the browser in any way convenient for you. In the main menu of the program, select the items "Tools" - "General settings". The main application settings window will open with several tabs. You can also call this window using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F12. Go to the last tab - "Advanced".
Step 5
In the left part of the window, select the "Programs" group of commands. In the center, below the text field, there will be a checkbox next to the inscription "Verify that Opera is the default browser". Put a check mark in this checkbox and click the "Settings" button to the right of the caption. In the settings window that opens, you can click the "Select all" button or set other parameters at your discretion.
Step 6
Close this window by clicking OK and confirm the changes made in the general settings window by clicking OK. Restart your browser. You will find that the changes you made have not taken effect, and the program again prompts you to install Opera as your default browser. Confirm your decision to designate her as such by clicking "Yes" in the request window. Make sure that the selected browser is set as the default - open any folder with web documents and you will see that their icons have changed to the Opera shortcut icon. In addition, in the "Settings" window on the "Advanced" tab, you will see that the settings selected in the previous step have become unavailable for editing.
