MPEG is a data compression standard whose name is an abbreviation for the Moving Pictures Expert Group, a group that has been developing this format since 1988. MPEG is quite widespread, so choosing a program to convert video to this format is not a problem. You can convert video to mpeg, for example, using the Canopus ProCoder program.
Necessary
- - Canopus ProCoder converter;
- - video file.
Instructions
Step 1
Load the file to be processed into the converter program. To do this, click on the Canopus ProCoder Wizard shortcut on your desktop. In the window that opens, select the Convert source video to a different format item and click the Next button.
Step 2
Click on the Load button and select the file to convert. The video parameters and previews will appear in the program window. Then click Next again.
Step 3
Select Select a generic target. This will allow you to immediately specify mpeg as the target format and not search for it in the preset list. Click Next again.
Step 4
Select mpeg from the list of formats and go to the next one. If necessary, you can go back one step by clicking on the Previous button and adjust the previous steps.
Step 5
Click on the rectangular button to the right of the Where do you want to save the file field and select a location on your computer where the converted file will be saved. Select Specify a new name and enter a new file name when the input field becomes active. Click Next again.
Step 6
Check the settings that you see in the program window. Pay attention to the fact that the frame size and, especially, the frame rate per second coincide with those of the original file. Perhaps the number of frames per second in your conversion parameters will turn out to be thirty, which is a bit too much for a file that initially had this parameter equal to twenty-five or twenty-four. To fix this, click on the Advanced Output Settings button.
Step 7
Adjust the aspect ratio and the number of frames per second in the window that opens. The topmost line shows the estimated size of the resulting file. If it seems too big for you, click on the button to the right of this line and adjust the size of the resulting file by moving the slider in the Quality Settings field. The lower you set the file quality, the smaller the file size will be after conversion.
Step 8
After finishing the settings, click on the Close button in the settings window and Convert at the bottom of the converter window. Wait until the end of processing the file.
