In the Microsoft Windows operating system, many elements can be customized by the user to suit his needs and in accordance with his taste. Having got used to opening pages on the Internet with a single click of the mouse, the user may wonder if it is possible to open files with one click of the mouse, for example, on the "Desktop" or in folders? Where and what settings need to be changed for this?
Instructions
Step 1
It would seem that all the settings related to the mouse should be in the "Properties: Mouse" window. However, to set the parameters for opening files and folders with one click, you need to call a completely different component - "Folder Properties". This can be done in several ways.
Step 2
Through the "Start" menu, call the "Control Panel". In the "Appearance and Themes" category, select the "Folder Options" icon by clicking on it with the left mouse button, and the required dialog box will open. If the "Control Panel" has a classic look, select the desired icon right away.
Step 3
Another way: open any folder in any directory on your computer. On the top menu bar, select Tools. In the drop-down menu, left-click on the last item "Folder Options".
Step 4
In the dialog box that opens, go to the "General" tab. In the "Mouse Clicks" section, place a marker in the box opposite the line "Open with one click, select with pointer". In the sub-items, you can set the way to display the signature of the icons - set the marker in the field you need.
Step 5
Click on the "Apply" button for the new settings to take effect, and close the "Folder Options" window by clicking on the OK button or on the X icon in the upper right corner of the window. Now all your files will open or run with one click.
Step 6
By default, files are opened with the left mouse button. If you are left-handed, reconfigure the mouse for your left hand. Through the "Start" menu, call "Control Panel", in the "Printers and Other Hardware" category, select the "Mouse" icon, a new window will open.
Step 7
Go to the Mouse Buttons tab and set a marker in the Swap Button Assignment field in the Button Configuration section. The new settings will take effect immediately. Click on the "Apply" button with the right mouse button and close the window.
