Step 1
Use the hide folders feature to protect your documents on your computer. To do this, right-click on the directory, select "Properties" and in the "General" section, check the box next to the "Hidden" option. Then click "OK", go to the "Tools" menu of any folder window, select "Folder Options", then go to the "View" tab and uncheck the "Show hidden files and folders" item, then click "OK".

Use the file encryption option built into the Windows operating system to protect your documents. To do this, right-click on the file, select "Properties", go to the "General" tab and click "Advanced", enable the "Encrypt content to protect data" option. This feature is available only in the NTFS file system.

Use special utilities to protect files and folders, for example, Universal Shield. This application is a handy tool that can ensure the security of your information through hiding and encryption. You can hide files using a mask, as well as provide for various access rules: read, visible, write or delete. You can also set up automatic data blocking.
Step 4
To select data for protection by the program, click the Protect button, in the window that opens, select the data type - file, mask, disk or folder. In the right part of the window, specify the object itself that you want to protect, then set the type of protection using the Properties encrypt button.

Encrypt the files, to do this, click the Protect button and in the window that opens, click Encrypt, specify the encryption algorithm and password. Additionally, you can set the restriction of access to the system folders of the operating system, such as "My Documents", "Favorites", to the control panel, as well as prevent changes to the system date and time. These options can be set using the File menu and the Security tricks command.
