Instructions
Step 1
Insert a bootable CD into your floppy drive or a USB flash drive.
Step 2
Go to BIOS and select the option to boot from CD or flash drive. You don't have to enter the BIOS, to select the boot option, after switching on, periodically press one of the F8, F9 or F2 keys. Step 4
In the window that opens, find your drive on which the faulty Windows XP system is installed. Identifying a Windows XP drive is straightforward. Usually on this disk there is a folder called "windows". Go to the / windows / system32 / config folder. Rename the system file to system_bad.
Step 5
Go to the / windows / repair folder and copy the system file from there to the / windows / system32 / config folder and restart your computer.
