When decorating drawings in AutoCAD with text labels, it is far from always convenient to use the default font. Therefore, the program provides the ability to select arbitrary fonts. You can set any font parameters, from typeface and size to weight, character width and letter angle.

Step 1
To write text in a font with the parameters you need, you need to create a text style. Start creating a new text style by activating the Text Style dialog box. To do this, use the command line to type and run the STYLE command (STYLE or -STYLE) or select the Text Style option on the Format tab on the menu bar.

To activate the New Text Style dialog box, click the New button. Enter a name for the new style and click the OK button. The style name must be no more than 255 characters long, spaces are allowed. After clicking OK, the program will return to the Text Style dialog box, where you can set all the characteristics of the new text style.

Select a font name from the Font Name drop-down list by clicking on it. In the preview pane, which is in the same dialog box, you can see a sample font. If the selected font supports different weights (italic, bold, and so on), you can select one from the Font Style drop-down list.
Step 4
In the Size box, set the height of the font. If you set the height to zero when creating the style, the height will be prompted for when the TEXT or DTEXT command is activated.

The program also provides the ability to create special effects of a text style: orientation, compression and stretching, the angle of inclination of characters. The values of these parameters are set by ticking the corresponding boxes - Upside down, Backwards, Vertical, Width Factor, Oblique Angle. A sample font with the assigned effect is displayed in the preview pane.
Step 6
After setting all the style parameters, click on the Apply button - and the created style will become the current one, the font of the entered text will look in accordance with the parameters that you specified.
