Files with the.iso extension contain a copy of the original optical media containing a movie, music album, computer game, etc. These are called “images” of discs and can be used to create a complete or virtual duplicate of a CD or DVD. This requires the presence of a special application on the computer, designed to work with files of this format.
Instructions
Step 1
Select and install an emulator program on your computer. There are a lot of such applications today - for example, you can use the programs Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools, UltraISO, etc. You can find them on discs in computer stores or downloaded over the Internet from the websites of manufacturers, most of which offer simplified free versions of these programs or a trial period that lasts from two weeks to a month.
Step 2
After installing the application, launch it and select the mount disk image command from the menu. Each program has its own interface, so you cannot give an unambiguous indication of where exactly to look for this command. For example, if you selected UltraISO, expand the Tools section of the menu and select Mount to Virtual Drive. The F6 hotkey is assigned to this command here - you can use it as well.
Step 3
Whatever application you use, after choosing the mount command, a file search dialog with the desired disk image should appear. In UltraISO, this form also contains a drop-down list listing the available virtual drives to which this image can be mounted. The list is located in the first line, and the next has an ellipsis button - click it to open an additional window and use it to find the required iso file on your computer. If desired, the full path can be typed manually in the text box under the "Image file" label.
Step 4
After selecting the file, click the button that starts the process of mounting the image. In the UltraISO program, it is placed in the lower left corner of the form and has the inscription "Mount". This application performs the process itself without any external effects - there are no information messages or other signs of progress or completion of the operation.
Step 5
Install the game from the virtual disk where the iso image is mounted. If you used UltraISO, click the button in the top line of the form (when you hover the mouse pointer over it, the Startup tooltip will pop up). As a result, the disc menu will be launched, in which you need to select the installation option. If the game does not require installation, you can start using it right away.
