The ability to work with layers is one of the most useful and actively used options in a graphics editor. However, its value would plummet if it were impossible to hide some layers and display others. Such a function, of course, is provided in the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop and you can use it in several ways.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the layers panel for all manipulations with them. By default, it is present in the interface of the graphical editor immediately after its launch. If for some reason you do not find it in the open Photoshop window, then open the "Window" section in its menu and click on the "Layers" item. Although, you can simply press the hotkey f7, which duplicates this menu command.
Step 2
Select the layer on the layers panel that you want to make invisible, that is, click its name with the mouse. You can turn off the display of the selected layer using the menu command - in the "Layers" section, select the "Hide layers" item. If you select several layers (click with the mouse over all the layers you need while holding down the ctrl key), then selecting this command will make them all invisible.
Step 3
Use the mouse instead of a command in the menu - this speeds up the work somewhat. Left-click on the eye at the left edge of the row in the layers panel to make this layer invisible. If you do this while holding down the alt key, then all layers will become invisible except for the one you clicked. You can then restore the original visibility by clicking again while holding down the alt key.
Step 4
Group layers if in the process of work you have to turn on and off the visibility of a certain set of layers from time to time. To do this, click on the icon with the image of a folder and the "Create a new group" tooltip at the bottom edge of the layers panel, and then drag all the necessary layers with the mouse into the created folder. After that, you can simultaneously turn on and off the visibility of the entire group by clicking on the icon with an eye associated with the folder of this group.
Step 5
Use the transparency properties of a layer as an alternative way to make it invisible. It is less convenient, but such a possibility also exists. At the upper right edge of the layers panel is a drop-down list labeled "Opacity", clicking on which makes the slider visible, which you should move to the extreme left position. In this way, you will make the selected layer or group completely transparent, that is, invisible.
