Instructions

Step 1

Move the cursor on the desktop to the folder you want to make invisible. Click on it with the right mouse button - a new dialog box "Properties: [Your folder name]" will open. Make sure you are on the General tab. At the bottom of the window, set the marker to the "Hidden" field. Save the new settings by clicking on the "Apply" button.

Step 2

If necessary, confirm your actions in the request window by choosing the option that suits you: apply the attribute only to the folder or to the folder and subfolders and files contained in it. Close the properties window with the OK button or with the [x] icon in the upper right corner of the window.

Step 3

After assigning the Hidden attribute, the folder will still be visible on the desktop, it will just become semi-transparent. To hide it completely, call the "Folder Options" component. This can be done in several ways. Open the "Control Panel" via the "Start" button or the Windows key. Select the Folder Options icon from the Appearance and Themes category.

Step 4

Alternative option: open any folder on your computer, select the "Service" item in the top menu bar, left-click on the "Folder options" item in the expanded context menu. A new dialog box will appear.

Step 5

Open the "View" tab. Scroll down to the bottom of the list in the "Advanced options" group and find the "Hidden files and folders" branch. Set the marker opposite the item "Do not show hidden files and folders", apply the new settings and close the window. Your folder will disappear from your desktop.

Step 6

Now, to open such an invisible folder, you will need to select one of the options. You can re-configure the display of hidden files and folders through the "Folder Options" component, or use the component for search. From the Start menu, select the Search command.

Step 7

Enter the name of the folder in the query field, and in the additional parameters, mark the "Search in hidden files and folders" item with a marker. If you remember the address of the folder, you can type it in the address bar of any other folder and click on the "Go" button. Alternatively, add your invisible folder to the Favorites history.
