It may be necessary to open the system unit of a personal computer to install or replace additional peripheral devices, power supply, processor, etc. From time to time, it becomes necessary to clean the internal surfaces and cooling radiators from dust accumulating in them.
Instructions
Step 1
Shut down the operating system using the Turn off computer button. Usually, we try to push the tower-type system unit somewhere under the table so that it takes up as little space as possible, so at the end of all OS shutdown processes, you, apparently, will need to push it to the free space. It is necessary to have free access to the rear and left (from the front panel) side surfaces of the system unit. Usually, you do not need to remove the right side of the case; it may be necessary only to access the screws that secure the removable disk drives and the system board. And after removing the left cover, you can install or remove cards for additional devices (video cards, network cards, modems, etc.), replace the processor, power supply, cooler, clean the inner surfaces and cooling radiators from dust, etc.
Step 2
Locate the power switch on the back wall and disconnect from the mains. It is usually located near the socket for connecting a network cable, but some models of cases do not have such a switch at all. It is advisable to pull out the network cable itself from the connector, especially if there is no switch in the computer and there is no grounding in the outlet.
Step 3
Unscrew the two screws on the back surface of the left side wall of the case of the system unit. But before that, make sure that this does not void the warranty - the fastening screws, as a rule, have warranty stickers, damage to which will void the warranty. If you nevertheless decide to open the system unit, then make sure that you will unscrew exactly the screws that secure the side wall, that is, the screws on the bent and painted surface - there are other screws next to them, but they are placed on the unpainted rear wall of the case. Sometimes the side cover mounts have comfortable large heads that you can unscrew with your fingers, but more often this requires a Phillips screwdriver. Occasionally, to remove this wall of the case, it is necessary to open the plastic latches.
Step 4
After loosening the screws, slide this side wall a few centimeters back and remove. If there is a need to remove the right side of the case, then do it in the same way.
