Routers are designed to create local networks, distribute traffic and provide computers with Internet access. In order for the local network to work without failures and errors, it is necessary to correctly configure the specified equipment.
Necessary
- - patch cord;
- - Personal Computer.
Instructions
Step 1
To configure the router, you need a stationary or mobile computer. Connect the selected equipment to the LAN connector of the network device. Use a patch cord for this. This cable is usually supplied with the router.
Step 2
Connect the Internet access cable to the network equipment. Make this connection through the WAN (Internet, DSL) connector. Turn on the computer or laptop connected to the router.
Step 3
After Windows boots up, open your internet browser. Reset the router by holding down the Reset button for a few seconds. Enter 192.168.1.254 in the address field of your browser. Press the Enter key.
Step 4
Fill in both fields of the authorization menu that appears with the word Admin. Click the Log In button. After entering the main menu of the web-based interface of the router, open the Quick Start item. Fill in the items of the proposed menu, entering the data provided by the provider.
Step 5
Click the Connect button and wait until the connection with the server is established. After successful authorization, click the Save All button and reboot the router.
Step 6
If, after turning on the device, the computer does not access the Internet, check the settings of the network card. Reset its parameters, allowing the router to issue the correct IP address.
Step 7
If you are working with a Wi-Fi router, reopen its web interface and go to the Wireless Setup menu. Set the parameters of the wireless access point. Use the modes that mobile computer adapters can handle.
Step 8
After changing the Wi-Fi router parameters, press the Save All button again and reboot the device. Connect to a wireless network. Check the ability to connect to the Internet or other local computers.
