Mkv is a common video file format, which is a kind of container of several tracks of video and audio, which gives the format an advantage over regular AVI files. MKV is capable of storing multiple audio tracks in different languages, information about video chapters, sometimes contains a menu. To edit such containers, specialized programs are used.
Instructions
Step 1
One of the most common mkv applications is MKVmerge GUI. The utility allows you to edit and add various components to the file, such as subtitles or audio tracks. Download the latest version of the program, install it by running the executable file and following the instructions of the installer.

After completing the procedure, launch the program using the "Start" menu. In the window that appears, go to the Input tab. Next to the Input Files field, click Add. Specify the path to the video files you want to change.

The Tracks list will show the audio tracks to be recorded in the video file. To remove audio, just uncheck the box next to the name of the extra recording.

After deleting unnecessary audio files from the container, specify the path for creating a new modified file in the Output Filename field, for this use the Browse button. After selecting the desired directory, click on the Start Muxing button. Wait until the end of the procedure. The deletion of tracks is complete.
Step 5
If you want to add sound or subtitles from your own files, click on the Add button. Also, you can simply drag and drop the necessary files into the program window by holding them with the left mouse button.

There are many alternative programs for editing mkv, one of which is mkvtoolnix. Its distinctive feature is the ability to work in both graphical and console modes. Go to the official website of the utility developer and download the latest version, then install it by running the downloaded file and following the instructions of the installer.
Step 7
Run the application. In the Input tab add the files you need to process with the Add button. In the list of Tracks parameters, uncheck the boxes opposite those tracks that you do not need. Specify the path to the output file in Output, then click on Start Muxing. Wait until the end of the procedure.
