After uninstalling an antivirus program, some of its components remain in the operating system registry. If you immediately start installing a new antivirus, a problematic situation may arise that this installation will be interrupted. The reason for this is most likely the files that remained in the operating system registry after removing the old antivirus program. Therefore, to avoid such problems, you need to completely clean the Windows registry from unnecessary files.

Instructions

Step 1

There are many programs to clean up the operating system registry. But, as a rule, these are multifunctional computer monitoring utilities that have many functions that the user does not always need. In addition, these programs are often paid. If you just need to clean the registry, you can use the small and handy Regseeker program. It has all the essential features you might need. Besides, the program is free. Download it. You don't need to install Regseeker. Just unpack the downloaded archive into any folder convenient for you.

Step 2

Run the program. To start it in the folder where the archive was unpacked, you need to double-click the right mouse button on the RegSeeker startup file. In the main menu of the program, select the option Clean the Registry. In the window that appears, opposite each of the items, check the box and click OK. This will begin the process of checking the operating system registry, which will take approximately five minutes. Information about the scan status will be displayed at the bottom in the program window.

Step 3

When the verification process is complete, select Select all. Another list will appear, in which also select Select all. This command automatically removes all unnecessary registry components, including those left after uninstalling the antivirus program. There is no point in looking for antivirus components separately, as it can take several hours. Now press the right mouse button in the program window and select the Delete Selected Item command. Wait for the cleaning process to complete and close the program window.

Step 4

After completing the cleaning of the operating system registry, restart your computer. There will no longer be any unnecessary components in the registry. You can now install your new antivirus software. Also, cleaning the registry makes the operating system more stable and faster.
