Instructions

Step 1

You can select multiple files or folders in different ways. You can use both mouse buttons and keys to select, or you can use a combination of both keys and mouse buttons at the same time. To a large extent, the selection method depends on the user's habits.

Step 2

To select a group of files using the mouse, place the cursor in a free area of the folder or desktop and press the left mouse button. Without releasing the button, move the cursor in the desired direction so that the group of files is in the light gray frame that follows the cursor. Release the mouse button to end the selection process. Next, issue a command for the selected group of files.

Step 3

If you are using keyboard keys, select the first file in the group (use the Tab key and the arrow keys to select an object). When it is highlighted, press and hold the Shift key, use the arrow keys to navigate to the last file in the group, and release the Shift key. Select a command for the highlighted group.

Step 4

You can also select the desired objects using the Shift key and the mouse. Place the cursor on the first object, press the Shift key, point with the mouse cursor to the last object, release the key - all files between the first and last object will be selected.

Step 5

If you need to select files located in different parts of the folder (scattered objects), select the first file, press the Ctrl key on the keyboard and point the mouse cursor to all the files you need one by one. Release the Ctrl key and perform the desired action on the selected group of files.

Step 6

To select all files in a folder, press the Ctrl key combination and the Latin letter A, or select the "Edit" item and the "Select All" command in the top menu bar. To remove the selection from the selected files, simply click in any free space of the folder with the left mouse button or select the "Invert selection" command from the "Edit" menu.
