To split a large file, it is best to use the well-known WinRar program. It is extremely widespread, so if you split a file and sent it in multiple archives by e-mail, you can be sure that the recipient will not have any problems connecting them into one file.
Instructions
Step 1
Use WinRar to cut any type of large file. Splitting an avi file will be considered as an example. The size of this file is 449 mb. If you want to place it on some file sharing service, for example, on depositfiles, it will be most convenient to divide the file into four or five parts. Those. so that one part does not exceed 100 mb.
Step 2
Click on the file with the right mouse button. In the context menu, select "Add to WinRar archive". A window will appear in which you will need to specify several parameters. Enter a name for the file. Then pay attention to the item "Compression type". Select the Uncompressed option. Next, the most important thing is the item "Divide into volumes by size".
Step 3
With this property you will be able to split a large file. In this case, you need to split the 449 megabyte file into volumes that do not exceed 100 megabytes. Enter the last digit in the column for this parameter. Please note that by default the unit of measurement is set in the program - not megabytes, but kilobytes. Replace it, otherwise WinRar will split your file into tens of thousands of small archives.
Step 4
Use automatic marking of parts of the archive. To do this, you need to indicate on which medium the recording will be made later. Depending on this, the program will offer you the option to split the source file. Confirm all actions. Click the OK button.
Step 5
Wait while the program splits the file into the required number of archives. This may take some time. Pay attention to the names of the archives. At the end of each of them there will be a number in order.
Step 6
If you want to restore the split file, run the WinRar program, load all the archives into it and unpack them into some folder. The file will be recreated automatically. You can also do this by selecting all the archives, right-clicking, and specifying the directory where you want to unpack them.
