Step 1
Call the "Properties: Display" dialog box. To do this, go to the "Control Panel" through the "Start" menu. In the "Properties: Display" window that opens, go to the "Themes" tab. Select the theme you like from the drop-down list. The selected theme will be clearly displayed in the "Sample" field. If you are not satisfied with the themes contained in the list, select the last item "Browse" and specify the path to a custom theme (for example, downloaded from the Internet). To change the background image on the desktop, in the "Properties: Display" window go to the "Desktop" tab. Choose a background image from the list provided, or set your own by clicking on the "Browse" button and specifying the path to a custom picture or photo. Set the display type of the wallpaper in the "Location" section, click the "Apply" button.
Step 4
To further customize the look of folders to your liking, go to the "Appearance" tab and select the font size from the drop-down list of the color scheme for the folders. Set the shadows for the menu bar using the Effects button, or customize other items using the window displayed by the Advanced button. Click the "Apply" button for the new settings to take effect, close the window.
