The Windows operating system is installed on millions of computers. Properly configured, Windows is truly a pleasure to work with. Over time, the user begins to notice that the computer has not only become slower, but also boots longer than usual.

Instructions

Step 1

Windows just installed on your computer usually runs surprisingly fast. However, after some time, changes accumulate in it, which significantly slow down its performance. If your computer starts to run slower, check for disk fragmentation: Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter.

Step 2

Run the defragmentation program. Select a disk to check, click the "Analyze" button. If the check shows that the disk needs defragmentation, click the Defragment button. After defragmentation, the computer starts to boot and run faster.

Step 3

There is another significant reason for the slowdown in boot and computer performance. When installing new programs, many of them try to register themselves in autorun, without asking the user whether he needs it or not. When the computer is turned on, all these programs begin to load, which increases the system startup time.

Step 4

You can edit the startup list using the Everest program (Aida 64). This is a very handy program that allows you to check many parameters of your computer. Run the program, open the "Programs - Startup" tab. Select and remove unnecessary programs from the startup list.

Step 5

To edit the startup list, you can also use the standard utility of the Windows operating system. Open: "Start - Run" ("Search" in Windows 7), enter the command msconfig. Click OK. In the window that opens, select the "Startup" tab and remove the birds from the programs you do not need. Click OK again.

Step 6

The computer's performance, including the speed at which it boots, is also affected by the services launched at computer startup. Many of them are never used, some are just dangerous - for example, "Remote Registry". Such services should be disabled: "Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services". Select the service you want to stop, double-click it. Click the Stop button. Then select Disabled from the Service Startup Menu (Startup Type). Search the Internet for a list of services that you can disable.
