The operation of opening the folder of the current user does not require deep knowledge of computer resources and can be carried out using standard methods of the Microsoft Windows operating system without using additional specialized programs.
Instructions
Step 1
Press the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Run" item to initiate the opening of the current user folder.
Step 2
Enter the character "." (period) in the "Open" field and click OK to display the user directory in the Documents and Settings folder on the C: drive (for Windows XP) or the user folder in the "Users" on the C: drive (for Windows Vista and Windows 7).
Step 3
Enter "" to display the root directory of the C: drive, or "…" to display the My Computer folder (Windows XP only).
Step 4
Return to the main menu "Start" and go to the item "My Computer" when the system message "Access Denied" appears to perform the operation of disabling simple file sharing and changing the "Owner of the folder" attribute.
Step 5
Call the context menu of the selected item by clicking the right mouse button and select the item "Folder properties".
Step 6
Click the "Presentation" tab of the dialog box that opens and uncheck the "Use basic file sharing (recommended)" box in the "Advanced options" section.
Step 7
Click OK to confirm the execution of the command and call the context menu of the user folder to be opened by right-clicking.
Step 8
Select Properties and go to the Security tab of the new dialog box.
Step 9
Confirm your administrator rights by clicking the OK button in the system warning window that opens and open the "Advanced" link in the "Security" window.
Step 10
Go to "Owner" and enter the username in the "Name" field.
Step 11
Click the Select button and apply the check box to Replace Owner of Subcontainers and Objects.
Step 12
Click the OK button to confirm your choice and click the "Yes" button in the system warning window that opens.
Step 13
Press the OK button to execute the command and confirm the application of the selected changes by pressing the OK button again.
