The user of the Windows operating system has to deal with the work in safe mode quite rarely. This feature can be indispensable if the operating system has stopped loading.
Instructions
Step 1
One of the main disadvantages of Windows is associated with its lack of stability - this operating system can "crash" at any time, usually failures occur after updates or the installation of new programs. There are several options for recovering the OS, one of them is related to the use of the command line.
Step 2
If the OS refuses to boot, press F8 when it starts. It is recommended to press the button at a frequency of about once a second so as not to miss the right moment. You should see a window with a choice of options for loading the operating system. Try to select the Last Known Good Configuration option first, in many cases this will help restore Windows to normal operation.
Step 3
If the OS still does not boot, select one of the three safe mode options: Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Line Support, or Safe Mode with Network Driver Loading. It is recommended to choose the first option, in this case you will see a much simplified and truncated, but still familiar Windows desktop. The screen in safe mode is black, in the corners there are inscriptions "Safe mode".
Step 4
To restore the system, then open: "Start" - "All Programs" - "Standard" - "System Tools" - "System Restore". Select one of the restore points, click "Next". The recovery procedure will begin, if it is successful, you will again get a fully functional system.
Step 5
The safe mode boot option with command line support is suitable for users who are comfortable using the console. To restore the system, you will need to enter the command in the console:% systemroot% system32
estore
strui.exe and press Enter.
Step 6
If the system cannot be restored, the best option in this situation is to reboot in Safe Mode and reinstall Windows from the CD over the previous installation - that is, in update mode. In this case, all installed programs and system settings will be saved.
Step 7
Signing in through safe mode can be useful if several people work on the computer, and one of the users has forgotten the password for their account. In safe mode, you are logged in as an administrator, so you can easily change any password. To do this, open the Control Panel and find the "User Accounts" section in it. Open the required entry and change the password.
