Instructions

Step 1

Launch Microsoft Word on your computer. Select the "Insert" tab from the main menu at the top of the page.

Step 2

Place the mouse cursor in the place of the document where you need to insert the formula. Find the inscription "Formula" in the menu that appears. In the new version of Microsoft Office, a pi may appear next to this word.

Step 3

Pay attention to the arrow next to the inscription "Formula". When you click on it from below, ready-made known formulas will appear. For example, the formula for a quadratic equation, trigonometric identity, or the Pythagorean theorem. If any of them suits you, click on it, and it will appear in the place of the document where your cursor is. After that, you just need to substitute your own values.

Step 4

If you need to create your own formula, click directly on the Pi icon. In this case, on the sheet you will have a field for entering the formula.

Step 5

Clicking on the Pi icon opens a whole panel with symbols and structures for formulas. Choose the ones that you need. Then plug in your values.

Step 6

For easier editing, convert the written formula to a linear view. Right-click the formula and choose Linear from the top menu. You can return to the original view in the same way by selecting the "Professional" tab in the menu.

Step 7

To change the font type, size and color, right-click on the formula and select "Font" from the menu that appears.

Step 8

The created formula can be saved for reuse. To do this, select it and click on the arrow that appears in the lower right corner of the formula field. Then select "Save as New Formula".

Step 9

To return to work on the formula after typing, select it and select the Design tab from the top menu.
