Despite the increased speed of Internet access, the issue of file size remains very important. After all, sending a video in 10 minutes is much more convenient than sending the same file in 30 minutes. And the hard drive does not always have enough space to store all videos in high quality. To reduce the "weight", that is, the size of the video file, you need to use a special program. At the same time, the quality will decrease slightly, but you can always choose the best option that suits the main parameters.

Step 1
Launch any of the programs for viewing Internet sites, open the search engine page. Enter the query "download video converter". Almost all video processing programs have the ability not only to change the video and audio parameters, but also to recode the file into another format that is more suitable for your purposes. One of the handy utilities that can work with all popular file formats is the free Any Video Converter. You can use Movavi Video Suite or others.
Step 2
Enter a download request, for example, "Download Any Video Converter". Follow the link and download the installation file of the program. Run the resulting file by double clicking. The installation wizard will open, click Next or Next until you see the completion message and the Finish button.

Open the program from the All Programs menu or double-click on the shortcut on your desktop. The main window of the utility will open. In the upper left part there is a button "Add video" with a picture of a film strip. Click on it and select the video file you want to make smaller. The title and parameters of the video will appear in the central part of the program window. Pay attention to the "Video Size" column. This is the current size and the file size depends on this parameter.
Step 4
Left-click on the "File" menu in the upper left corner of the window. Go to Specify Destination Folder and select a location to save your edited videos. It is important that there is enough free space on the logical drive containing this folder.

Select the file name with the mouse. There is a video player on the right side of the working window. Above it, you can select the format of the target file, and below it - a list of recording parameters. View your video to see if it works and select the desired settings from the list. Use the scroll bar to see all available changes. The principle of choice is this: the lower the resolution, the smaller the file and the worse the quality. Conversely, the higher the quality, the larger the size.
Step 6
Specify the beginning and end of the recording if you want to cut out a part of the video to reduce the final size. Note that the entire file is processed by default.
Step 7
Click the "Encode / Convert" button when you have selected all the options for the future reduced video. This will begin a process that can take anywhere from a minute to an hour, depending on the power of your computer and the size of the file. Upon completion, a dialog box will appear on the screen asking you to open the folder with the result and offering to buy the full version of the program.
Step 8
Click the Open Output Folder button and check the functionality of the finished file, as well as its size. Repeat processing with other parameters if necessary.
