Instructions

Step 1

If your computer is running Windows 7, then you already have several preinstalled gadgets. It remains only to find and run them - by default they are disabled and are not displayed on the desktop. To do this, all you need is to right-click in a free area of the desktop and select the penultimate item "Gadgets" in the context menu that appears.

Step 2

When you click, a dialog box will open in which you can select the one you like from a dozen utilities, and then, by clicking on it, watch it appear on the desktop. The gadget can be moved and hung anywhere on the screen. To do this, move the cursor over it, and after three or four buttons appear to the right of the gadget, click on the bottom one and, while holding the cursor on the button, drag the gadget to another location.

Step 3

To diversify the standard set of gadgets, in the same dialog box where you activated the gadget, click the link "Find gadgets on the Internet". The system will redirect you to the Microsoft website, where you can expand the set of mini-programs. Just select the gadget you like, download it, and then double-click on the downloaded file. The program will appear on the desktop and will be automatically added to the collection, from where you can launch the gadget at any time if you unintentionally delete it from the desktop.

Step 4

On a computer with Windows Vista or XP installed, you will have to install an additional free Thoosje Windows 7 Sidebar program in order to use gadgets for Windows 7. You can download it on the official website of the developers (thoosje.com). After installing the program, a panel similar to the one designed for gadgets in Windows Vista will appear on the desktop of your computer. This is where gadgets for the new operating system will be installed.
