Step 1
If gadgets are installed by default in Windows 7 or Linux operating systems, to display them in Windows XP, you need to install a special application - the Windows Sidebar. This program can be downloaded for free on the Internet. Download and run the installation file, after the installation is complete, restart your computer.
Step 2
After rebooting, you need to install the sidebar on the desktop, for this open: "Start" - "All Programs" - Windows Sidebar folder - Windows Sidebar shortcut. A sidebar with standard gadgets will appear on the right side of the desktop. You can delete, move, resize them.
Step 3
To add gadgets to your desktop, click on the plus at the top of the sidebar. A window will open in which you can view the gadgets present in the program and select the ones you need. To remove a gadget, hover over it, then click on the close icon that appears.
Step 4
You can find many different gadgets on the Internet. To add them to those already available in the program, place the downloaded gadgets in the Gadgets folder. If you have Windows on the C drive, then the path to it will be like this: C: / Program Files / Windows Sidebar / Gadgets. In this folder, create a folder with the name of the new gadget, and the folder name must end with. Gadget. For example, the Google search gadget folder might be named GoogleSearch. Gadget.

Since gadgets are usually downloaded as an archive file, the archive must be unpacked in the created folder. After rebooting, the new gadget will appear in the list. You can do without rebooting, you just need to restart the sidebar. To do this, open: "Start" - "All Programs" - "Windows Sidebar" - "Reload Panel".
Step 6
Do not forget that gadgets take away computer resources, so it is better to put only those that are really needed. It is also important to configure them correctly. For example, in an analog (analog) watch, it is better to remove the display of the second hand, in this case the gadget will be much more economical. On powerful computers, this does not play a special role, but on weak computers it can have a noticeable effect on the speed of the system.
