The option to select the boot option for the Windows XP operating system is caused by the presence of several possible OSes in the system. With the constant use of only one of them, many users prefer disabling the selection of redundant options, carried out by standard Windows tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Run" item to edit the boot menu.
Step 2
Enter the value msconfig.exe in the search bar that opens and press the Enter key to confirm the command execution. (An alternative way to launch the msconfig.exe utility is to use the simultaneous pressing of the Win + R keys.)
Step 3
Go to the Download tab and explore all of the suggested download options.
Step 4
Select the desired configuration and remove any unnecessary boot menu items.
Step 5
Press Enter to apply the selected changes. It is possible to install multiple operating systems located in different partitions. Follow the steps below to delete files from previous OS.
Step 6
Return to the main Start menu and go to Run to identify the partitions that contain unnecessary OS.
Step 7
Enter diskmgmt.msc into the search bar and press Enter to confirm the command.
Step 8
Select the operating system files whose partitions are labeled "Primary partition".
Files whose sections are marked "Active", "System" or "Download" cannot be deleted, because refer to the current operating system and ensure the performance of a computer running Windows OS.
Step 9
Delete all selected files and restart your computer to apply the changes. Another way to remove unnecessary operating system boot choices is to perform the following operations.

Return to the main Start menu and go to Run.

Enter sysdm.cpl in the search bar and press Enter to confirm the command.
Step 12
Go to the "Advanced" tab in the window that opens and click the "Settings" button in the "Startup and Recovery" section.

Uncheck the box next to Display a list of operating systems in the Boot operating system area and click OK.
