What can an ordinary user do on his own and in a few minutes to check the performance of a newly acquired microphone for a personal computer?
It is necessary
computer, microphone
Instructions
Step 1
For some reason, your microphone does not work on your PC? Try to fix this problem by restarting your computer or restarting the program. If after that the microphone also does not work, you should try several alternative solutions for this problem.
Step 2
The first step is to check if the sound is on (the volume icon is located on the taskbar next to the clock). It is depicted in the form of a round column (can be in profile or full face). Double-click on it with the left mouse button (a small window with columns will appear) and see where the microphone slider is frozen. If it is at the very bottom, then lift it up. Open any program that records sound, such as Windows Sound Recorder. It will help you find out how sensitive the microphone is and find the optimal distance (mouth to microphone) for conversations.
Step 3
If this does not help, make sure that the connected microphone is visible to the system. Open the properties of sounds and audio devices (start - programs - control panel - sounds and audio devices). Go to the "Audio" tab and see what is written there. If a microphone is used in the Sound Recording label, the inscription may be as follows: Realtek HD Audio input. If there is no such text, click in the same table on the selection field (where the arrow points down) and select the device where the word "input" is present in the names. Then click the "OK" button and test the microphone in the same program ("Sound Recorder").
Step 4
If you want to know how well the purchased microphone works and how the interlocutor will hear you, use Skype. Go to the official site of the "Skype" program, download and run the client. While the download process is in progress, register on the official website. Go to the program and read its features. You need an Echo / Sound Test Service contact. Call him and listen to the message, and after the signal, speak the text into the microphone. If after that you hear your monologue, it means that your microphone is working.
