Modern faucets are often used in the renovation of bathrooms, in which the role of two taps is played by one common lever, supplying both cold and hot water in different positions. A beautiful and expensive single-lever mixer pleases the owners until it breaks and starts to leak water even when closed. If your faucet is broken, it can be easily repaired by replacing the ceramic cartridge, which may become unusable due to poor quality tap water.
Instructions
Step 1
When purchasing a cartridge for a mixer, consult with a specialist in the store, describing to him the make and model of your mixer. Before starting the repair, temporarily shut off the water that goes from the pipe to the mixer by turning the valve.
Step 2
Disassemble the mixer - remove the plastic plug with a screwdriver, and then unscrew the hex screw located under the plug. Remove the mixer handle by manually unscrewing the decorative nut and then unscrewing the union nut with a wrench. This will free the cartridge from the faucet seat so you can remove it.
Step 3
A worn-out cartridge can be discarded. Take the new cartridge out of the package and install it inside the mixer. When installing, make sure the holes in the cartridge line up with the holes in the mixer seat. Also, the tabs on the bottom of the cartridge should fit snugly into the corresponding indentations on the bottom of your faucet.
Step 4
When the cartridge is firmly installed in the mixer, replace the union nut by tightening it tightly. Make sure the cartridge is pressed against the mixer seat and then screw on the decorative nut. Replace the mixer handle by attaching it to the cartridge control arm, and then tighten the locking screw with the Allen key.
Step 5
Install the plastic plug by pushing it into the hole above the plug screw. Unscrew the valve to restore water access to the mixer. Open the mixer and check if it works.
