The cooler on the processor, like other moving parts, is subject to wear and tear over time. In addition, it can become clogged with dust and make an eerie noise. In this case, you can try to clean and lubricate it, or you can simply replace it.

Step 1
Before buying a new cooler, you need to figure out which cooler you are looking for. Most CPU coolers are universal, but there are some exceptions, so find out which socket you have on your motherboard.
You can find out by looking at the instructions for it. If there is no instruction, then download some diagnostic program, for example CPU-Z. You can find it on the manufacturer's websit
Step 2
Unpack the archive and run the cpuz.exe file. The program does not require installation and will start immediately. On the CPU tab, find the Package line, the inscription opposite it will be a socket on your motherboard (for example, Socket LGA 1156).

In addition to the socket, the coolers also differ in the cooling efficiency, as well as in the noise level. Many specialized sites often conduct comparative tests of coolers, you can find them on the pages www.thg.ru/, www.overclockers.ru/ or www.ixbt.com/. Make sure you have thermal paste included with the cooler. If not, buy it at a computer store or at a radio parts store.
Step 5
Now remove the old cooler. Mounting on it can be very different, depending on the type of processor manufacturer and the type of socket. Coolers for Intel processors are fastened at four corners with screws or latches. To remove the cooler for AMD processors, you need to rotate the lever 180 degrees and loosen the rocker that holds the cooler. After that, it can be easily removed.
Step 6
If the new cooler has a universal mount for all sockets, then see the instructions on how to install it. If the cooler is specialized, then install it in the same way as you removed the old one. Before installing the cooler, clean the surface of the processor from the old thermal paste and, if necessary, apply a new one with a thin layer. Don't forget to plug the cooler into the power connector on your motherboard.
