BIOS stands for Basic Input / Output System. It is a microcircuit on a motherboard with its own memory and firmware. BIOS serves to store the system settings of the motherboard itself - date and time, device detection and boot settings, as well as other important parameters.

Instructions

Step 1

To enter the BIOS of your motherboard, press Del, F2 or Esc right after turning on the computer. The start button depends on the motherboard, read about the required button on the motherboard start window. If you do not succeed the first time, try again, as often the BIOS does not turn on on the first try.

Step 2

You can set the time, set the date and see the main storage devices of the computer in the first section of the BIOS: Standard CMOS Features. You can navigate between sections using the arrow keys, and enter and exit using the Enter and Esc keys. You can also simply enter the desired date and time in numbers. As a rule, the BIOS has a 24 hour time format by default.

Step 3

In the Advanced BIOS Features section, you can change boot parameters (priority for selecting storage devices), cache settings, set anti-virus protection for writing to the boot sector, diagnostics of hard drives and some other parameters. For a complete list, see the documentation for your motherboard. If you do not have the documents available, go to the manufacturer's official website and download or just view the instructions.

Step 4

You can configure the priority of determining the video stream, as well as the operation of the south and north bridges and set the controller settings in the Integrated Peripherals section. Power options are available in the Power Management Setup section. You can save the changes and then exit using the F10 button or the corresponding BIOS item. Do not be afraid to go into this system and make settings - read the instructions, translate incomprehensible moments or ask on the forum. If you do not save the settings yourself, the system will automatically notify you about saving when you exit the BIOS.
