The operability of the laser head affects the ability to read CDs containing informational data or video or audio files. If the disc won't open, then it's time to check the laser head.

It is necessary

  • - a turntable with a laser head;
  • - a computer with access to the global network;
  • - special grease;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - CD.

Instructions

Step 1

Disconnect the Slide-motor from the turntable (the diagram of the turntable can be found either in the operating instructions supplied with the drive, or on the Internet).

Step 2

Check laser head gears and guides. If there is no lubricant, apply it.

Step 3

Apply a voltage of 1-5 W to the Slide motor, which will set the laser head in motion (it will start moving from its initial position to its final position and back). If it is not possible to apply voltage, try to rotate the rotary shaft by hand.

Step 4

If you hear a crackling sound or noticeable slippage when the shaft moves, this may indicate that the gears, motor or belts are damaged. Therefore, carefully inspect the gears in order to identify mechanical damage present in them. Then check the belts: they must provide a reliable transmission of movement, otherwise, this element will slip, which will cause the disc reading to be intermittent. Provided that there is a "dead center" in the turntable motors, the CD will play in jerks: that is, spontaneous freezes or jumps are possible at any time. Correct any detected malfunctions in the engine, belts or gears by replacing the out-of-service elements with new ones.
