It may not be possible to lengthen the headphones in all cases, as signal strength will be lost with cables of a certain length. Also pay special attention to the quality of the wires.
It is necessary
- - extension wire;
- - insulating tape;
- - knife;
- - tester.
Instructions
Step 1
Find a cable similar to the one used for your headphone model. You can purchase it at radio sales points in your city. You can also use a wire from other headphones.
Step 2
Pay special attention to the thickness and quality of the wires, as this will affect their service life and the quality of the transmitted signal. Do not purchase wires that show traces of mechanical stress, cable breaks, and so on.
Step 3
Calculate the resistance that will be relevant to your headphones after increasing the length of the wire using the following formula: R = (P * l) / S. Based on the results obtained, we can say that if the length is increased by 2-2.5 meters, there will be no significant loss of sound quality. You can also use the tester for on-the-fly measurements.
Step 4
Cut the headphone wire at a distance of 10-15 centimeters from the plug. Strip its wires, do the same with the extension cord. Connect them so that they touch each other as much as possible, then rewind the section of the wire with electrical tape. Do the same for the other end of the wire.
Step 5
Use special cables with a jack socket on one side and a corresponding plug on the other to extend the length of the headphones. It is also not worth buying a long wire here.
Step 6
If you notice a deterioration in the transmitted signal, shorten the wire, having previously measured it with a tester. The best option will always be to buy extension cords with ready-made connectors or just new headphones with a long cable. If you need to use a wire longer than 3 meters, the signal may be lost. In this case, check if there is a headphone amplification function in the playback device.
