The principle of overclocking a laptop is not much different from a similar process for a stationary computer. The only catch is that it's rare to find a mobile PC with a BIOS that supports standard performance-enhancing options.
Instructions
Step 1
First, find out the availability of overclocking parameters specified by the developers. Turn on the laptop and open the BIOS menu. For an HP device, first press F2 and then select the desired item. Go to the Advanced tab and open the CPU Settings menu. Find the Overclocking Mode field.
Step 2
Explore the available overclocking options. Select the rate you want (5, 7, or 10 percent). Save your settings and restart your mobile computer. Remember that increased device performance will result in higher power consumption.
Step 3
Now start overclocking your mobile computer's video adapter. If your laptop uses an integrated video chip, then you shouldn't expect a big performance gain. Install Riva Tuner and run it.
Step 4
Open the System Preferences menu. Activate the use of drivers to customize 3D applications. Change the position of the sliders in the Memory Frequency and Core Frequency fields. Click the Apply button.
Step 5
Make sure the video card is working smoothly. Now check the box next to Run Settings from Window. Click the Save button and close Riva Tuner.
Step 6
Start increasing the performance of your RAM modules. Use the MemSet program to change the RAM settings while working in a Windows environment. Install and run the specified utility.
Step 7
Decrease one of the delay metrics by one. Run the Everest program and perform a stability test on the memory modules. Use this cycle to maximize the performance of the memory cards.
Step 8
Do not forget that there is a power mode in laptops. Be sure to select "Maximum performance". Make sure all devices are receiving adequate power.
Step 9
Open the items that define the maximum and minimum state of the processor. Enter 100% in both fields.
