Overclocking a processor in a laptop is pretty hard work. There are no absolutely safe ways to solve this problem, since the device of laptops does not provide for a radical change in their characteristics. Therefore, you will be at your own risk to increase productivity. But if you are confident in yourself and still decide to overclock your hardware, then read on.

Instructions

Step 1

Software overclocking is carried out using programs that control the clock generator. However, for the program to work, you must know the model of the clock generator. And for this you need to either disassemble the laptop and look for a microcircuit on the motherboard, or select it manually. And the list is pretty long.

Step 2

There are a few more snags in using overclocking software:

Not all PLLs support software control;

Overclocking can be hardware locked. In this case, it will not be possible to overclock the laptop with the program, even if you know the TG model;

New TGs in laptops are released very often, and sometimes it takes a lot of time to add support for such TGs to the databases.

Step 3

BSEL-mod. This method feeds high and low levels to the BSEL pins of the processor. Low and high levels should be understood as a voltage of a certain value and for different processors it has a different meaning. Corresponding processor pins are isolated or shorted to ground. This leads to a noticeable overclocking of the processor.

Step 4

But here, too, there are underwater reefs:

The latest laptop chips from Intel after this method block the processor multiplier by x6, as a result of which you can get the opposite effect - the frequency will decrease;

In this way, you can switch the FSB frequency only to standard levels (133, 166 266, etc.);

The chipset may not officially support the FSB frequency, then overclocking may fail.

Step 5

Clock generator mod. Here we are talking about direct intervention in the electrical circuit that connects the TG and the processor to the chip. Similar to BSEL-mod, but it is carried out with BSEL-pins not of the processor, but of the TG microcircuit.

Step 6

Here are the advantages of this method:

This method works great on almost all laptops;

This overclocking cannot be blocked either by hardware or in the BIOS.

Step 7

But the disadvantages:

Technically difficult, requires knowledge of some theoretical data and the ability to handle a soldering iron, in addition to a soldering iron, it requires several technical devices;

The frequency switches only to standard marks, as in the case of the second method;

This overclocking method, just like the first one, forces the memory frequency to increase in parallel with the FSB frequency. This will lead to the fact that we can rest against memory.
