First of all, you need to decide on the size of the monitor. It is determined by the long diagonal of the screen (this is the simplest and most understandable characteristic). Under no circumstances should you buy monitors with a diagonal of less than 17-19 inches - it is very inconvenient to work with such a device. 21-22 inches diagonal is ideal for a monitor. Larger screens are great for watching movies, but they are not designed for work.

The next characteristic is the aspect ratio. You are unlikely to find 4: 3 models - they have almost completely disappeared from stores. The most popular are monitors with an aspect ratio of 16: 9 or 16:10. Contrast is the ratio between the luminance of the darkest part of the image and the lightest part of the image. At a minimum, the contrast level of your monitor should be at least 500: 1.

The response time shows the interval during which one cell of the matrix changes its brightness from one value to another. With a long response time, fast moving objects may seem blurry and indistinct to you, this is not critical if you work with text. However, for a pleasant and comfortable viewing of films, this figure should not exceed 8 ms, and for the complete disappearance of unwanted effects, 4-millisecond models of monitors are required.

One of the main disadvantages of LCD monitors is that when looking at the screen from an angle, the image deteriorates significantly. The small viewing angle will not allow you to watch videos with friends, and even one user may experience problems. It is recommended to select a monitor with a 160-degree vertical and horizontal viewing angle.
