The huge number of different models of monitors often only complicates the selection of the right device. In any case, initially you need to understand what the computer display will be used for most often.

Step 1
Select the appropriate matrix size for the monitor you are purchasing. If you plan on using a display for gaming, don't consider screen sizes that are oversized. Practice shows that they only interfere with the gameplay. The maximum diagonal of a gaming monitor should be 24 inches (ideally 21). Otherwise, you will have to constantly shift your gaze to keep all the necessary elements in sight.
Step 2
Purchase a 27 monitor to watch movies or videos. By the way, in this case, you can save money and buy a TV with a 26-32 inch screen. Please be aware that the principle of image formation in televisions is completely different than in monitors. For games with fast changing graphics, it is best not to use a TV.
Step 3
Pay attention to the maximum display resolution. It must not be less than 1366x768 pixels (HD). The exception is “square” monitors of 4: 3 format. The optimal resolution is Full HD (1920x1080). If your computer has a weak video card, it is better to stick to HD resolution. You still won't be able to run modern games at maximum settings.
Step 4
When choosing a gaming monitor, focus on the "classic" LED-backlit LCDs. These screens have relatively small viewing angles, but they have a significant advantage - a short response time. This means that the picture will be formed on the monitor with little or no delays.

Modern IPS displays are great for watching movies. In addition, perfect color reproduction and high viewing angles make it comfortable to work with photos and videos. Do not purchase IPS displays for gaming. For office tasks, choose a monitor with a conventional LCD screen. This is the cheapest type of display, which is characterized by low color rendering.
Step 6
Sometimes attention should be paid to the design and ergonomics of the monitor. The ability to rotate the screen 90 degrees and the height adjustment are great benefits. Also check the possibility of removing the leg and mounting the monitor on the wall. In many cases, it can significantly save desk space.
Step 7
Explore additional options for your monitor: built-in speakers, USB ports, audio in / out, HDMI port. The latest models of displays allow you to transmit an image to them via a Wi-Fi channel. This makes it possible to connect a laptop to a monitor without using wires, which already constantly interfere with comfortable work.
