In the absence of a karaoke player, it can be successfully replaced by an ordinary desktop computer or laptop. All that is required is a sound card, microphone and Internet access.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure you have a sound card in your computer (either separate or built into the motherboard). If not, purchase and install it. Remember that this can only be done when the machine is de-energized. If you do not have the appropriate skills or desire to upgrade the machine, purchase a special external sound card with a USB interface. Make sure it has a mic input.
Step 2
On Linux, configure the sound card using the sndconfig utility, on Windows, install its driver. If there is no sound, look at the mixer settings - it may just be set to minimum volume.
Step 3
Connect a dedicated computer electret microphone to the sound card. If there is none, do not use a special dynamic karaoke microphone - the sound will be very quiet. To make a homemade microphone, use an electret capsule designed for a supply voltage of 1.5 V. With a three-volt one, the sound will also be quiet.
Step 4
Make sure the microphone is working. If not, start the mixer again and turn on the mic input. Adjust the volume so that there is no acoustic feedback. If this persists, move the microphone away from the speakers, or use headphones instead.
Step 5
Install the latest version of the Flash Player plug-in on your computer for the combination of OS and browser you are using.
Step 6
Find sites with karaoke files like https://www.karaoke.ru/. Select a piece and start performing it
Step 7
Electret microphones have the following disadvantage: they cannot be connected in parallel. The sound card has only one microphone input. This prevents the two of you from singing as with specialized DVD players with karaoke function. This can be remedied by using the most inexpensive mixing console you can find. Plus, it usually allows dynamic microphones to be connected. Connect the output of the remote control not to the microphone, but to the line-in of the sound card.
