Step 1
Use the popular TrueCrypt program among users, which can be freely found on the Internet. The application encrypts removable USB media by partitions or in full. The program is distinguished by high reliability of data protection, but at the same time, its disadvantage is not the best interface.
Step 2
Install a simplified version of TrueCrypt called FreeOTFE. The program allows you to create encrypted virtual disks and has a minimalistic interface. FreeOTFE is also open source and distributed free on the Internet.
Step 3
Check out the handy MyFolder program, which sets a password not only for removable USB media, but also for folders on your hard drive. A dedicated notification area icon gives users easy access to all protected folders, and the Blowfish encryption algorithm ensures fast transactions. The disadvantages of the application can be attributed only to the lack of support for the 64-bit version of the operating systems of the Windows family.
Step 4
Download AxCrypt, which encrypts individual files on a removable drive. File protection is provided using the Encrypt function in the file context menu, and decryption is performed automatically by double-clicking and entering the required password. When the file is closed, it is re-encrypted with a 128-bit algorithm.
Step 5
Encrypt archives on a USB flash drive with the files you need using the reliable 256-bit AES algorithm, which is provided by the free 7-zip archiver. Just move the necessary information into the archive and set a password for it. You can also use the built-in BitLocker password protection utility that is built into Windows 7 Ultimate.
