Many models of modern laptops are equipped with two video cards at once. This is usually done to extend the life of the device without recharging. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to turn off the integrated video adapter on their own.
It is necessary
- - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator;
- - ATI Catalyst Control Center.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on the laptop and press the desired key to enter the BIOS menu. Find the menu responsible for managing video devices. Select the integrated video card and set its parameter to Disabled. Please note that this process can only be performed when another video card is active.
Step 2
If you were unable to disable the video adapter through the BIOS, try to do this using the functions of the Windows operating system. Open Device Manager. Wait for the process of analyzing the connected equipment to complete. Find the Display Adapters menu and expand it. Select the integrated video card, right-click on it and select "Disable".
Step 3
There are special applications for setting up more convenient control of graphic devices. If your laptop uses an Intel processor, download and install Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. This program will automatically turn on a full-fledged video adapter in the event that the power of the integrated graphics device is not enough.
Step 4
If you are using an AMD processor, then install the ATI Catalyst Control Center software. Reboot your laptop. Right click on the desktop and select the AMD PowerXpress Settings option.
Step 5
The "Current Active Graphics Processor" column will display the active graphics card. In order to configure automatic switching of the video adapter when connecting / disconnecting power to the laptop, activate the corresponding item by checking the box next to it.
