Some motherboards incorporate a chip that is analogous to a discrete video card. This element has a relatively weak performance, but is ideal for working with simple programs and surfing the Internet.
Necessary
- - set of screwdrivers;
- - AMD Power Express;
- - Nvidia Conrol Panel.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the BIOS menu to switch the video adapter. This option is usually available when working with stationary computers. Turn on the PC and press the key that launches the motherboard firmware interface.
Step 2
Open the Advanced Settings or Video Options submenu. Disconnect the discrete board. To do this, set the Disable parameter in the PCI Card item. If the integrated chip does not automatically activate, shut down the computer without saving the BIOS menu settings.
Step 3
Otherwise, return to the main firmware menu. Save your settings and restart your computer. If this method does not help to change the video adapter, use the mechanical method.
Step 4
Disconnect the cable from the computer's power supply. Remove the wall of the system unit. Disconnect the cable from the video card. Connect it to the port on the integrated adapter.
Step 5
Gently remove the discrete graphics card. To do this, slide the latch and pull the card out of the PCI slot. Close the case of the system unit. Turn on your computer.
Step 6
Both methods described are not suitable for changing the video adapter in a mobile computer. Switching devices in laptops is achieved by installing special software.
Step 7
Visit the website of the company that developed this mobile computer. Find software that allows you to control the parameters of the integrated video chip. Be sure to download the application suitable for this particular laptop model.
Step 8
Install the downloaded software. Restart your laptop and launch the application. Switch the active video adapter. To do this, select a specific equipment or specify one of the available modes of device operation. When working with AMD software, select "GPU Power Saving Mode".
