BIOS is the basic input / output system that is responsible for accessing the computer hardware and devices connected to it. BIOS settings are often changed in order to improve the performance of the operating system or change the system boot parameters. If you notice a deterioration in the performance of your computer, then you need to reset the BIOS to factory settings.

Step 1
Inappropriate adjustment of the basic I / O system can render the computer inoperable or damage its individual components. There are several ways to reset the BIOS to factory defaults. You can do this in the program itself without disassembling the system unit. Restart your computer and press the DEL key when turned on to enter the BIOS main menu. In the menu on the right, you will see the Logout Options panel You need to select Load Bios Defaults or press the F5 key. Answer in the affirmative to the system's question about resetting the settings, thereby you will return the BIOS to its original settings.

It is not always possible to reset the BIOS settings to the initial ones using the program itself. Sometimes you have to resort to other methods. One of them is resetting the BIOS using a battery. First you need to completely de-energize the system unit. Make sure that all cords are disconnected, this will save you from possible damage in case of careless actions. Remove the housing cover. Inside the system unit, you will see the motherboard, find the battery on it. It has a round shape and is rather large in size. Gently, holding it so that it does not fall, remove it from the slot by pressing the latch. After about 15-20 seconds, insert the battery into place until the latch clicks. The settings have been reset to their default values.

If none of the methods works for you, you can reset the settings using the CMOS jumper, which is also on the motherboard. This jumper is often referred to as a "jumper". It is located near the battery, usually labeled as Clear CMOS (or CCMOS) on the motherboard. It consists of three contacts, two of which are closed. Pull it out carefully and put it on the adjacent pins for a few seconds, then put it back.

The most radical way to reset the settings to factory settings is to power off the system unit. Unplug the power for a few days (3-4 days should be sufficient) until the motherboard battery runs out. Thus, the motherboard will be left without power and the settings will be reset.
