When you start the spreadsheet editor Micrsoft Office Excel, a document is automatically created with a ready-to-fill wireframe of a new table. That is, no special action is required to create an empty table. In addition to this operation for creating tables in Excel, there are functions for selecting part of the cells of an existing table into an independent table.

Instructions

Step 1

Select the range of cells on the sheet that you want to present as a separate table. After that, go to the "Insert" tab in the spreadsheet editor menu and in the "Tables" group of commands click the "Table" button. This operation corresponds to pressing the shortcut keys CTRL + T or CTRL + L.

Step 2

Check the box “Table with headers” in the dialog box that opens if the first line of the range you selected contains the column names for the table you are creating. Otherwise, the default headers will be used - Column 1, Column 2, and so on. Then click the "OK" button and the table will be generated with the default look and feel.

Step 3

Make the necessary changes to the created table using the controls placed on the additional tab "Design" added to the existing tabs of the menu. Here you can choose a different color scheme, add a row of totals, highlight the outermost columns, etc.

Step 4

Use the separate sorting capabilities of this dedicated table separately from the general table - this is the main purpose of such a function. If you need to expand the table, move the cursor over the dot label in the lower right corner of the table and, by pressing the left mouse button, drag it to the new borders.

Step 5

There is an alternative way to create this kind of tables. To use it, after selecting the desired range of cells, click the "Format as Table" button in the "Styles" group of commands on the "Home" tab of the Excel menu. In the drop-down list of design options, select the one that suits you best, or click the "Create Table Style" button and design your own. After that, the dialog box described in the second step will open, and then the procedure for creating and editing the table will not differ from that described in the previous steps.
