Instructions

Step 1

First, find a picture that you will use as a background. The header image uses a pattern downloaded from sxc.hu, a repository of free images. If you decide to take a picture for the background from the same place, keep in mind that registration will be required from you.

Step 2

Open this picture in Adobe Photoshop. To do this, click the menu item "File"> "Open" or hotkeys Ctrl + O, select the desired file and click "Open".

Step 3

Select the Elliptical marquee tool and use it to create an oval in the picture, which, according to your idea, will be the outer side of the frame. In the tool settings, select the item "Subtract from selection" and create a new oval, which will be the inner side of the frame.

Step 4

Press the key combination Ctrl + J. Thus, you have created a new layer with only the selected oval frame on it. Find this layer in the list of layers, which in turn is in the "Layers" window (if not, press F7), right-click on it and select "Blending options" from the menu that appears.

Step 5

In the next window, select the "Drop shadow" parameter (the list of parameters is on the left side of the window), in the "Blend mode" item, select "Multiply", in the "Angle" - 125 degrees, in "Size" - 20-30 pixels, leave the rest of the values unchanged. Select the Bevel and emboss option and set it to the following values: Style - Inner bevel, Technique - Smooth, play with the settings Gloss contour, Highlight mode and Shadow mode, leave the rest unchanged. Select the option "Contour" (Contour), in the item "Contour" select "Half round" (Half round), and the rest also leave unchanged. Click OK.

Step 6

In the list of layers, right-click on the background layer, in the menu that opens, select "From background" and in the new window immediately click OK. You have turned the background into a full layer. Select the layer with the frame, activate the Magic wand tool and click once with the left mouse button in the area that is inside the frame, so this area will be selected. Select the layer that was previously the background and press Delete on your keyboard. The frame is ready, now it remains to insert a photo into it.
