Step 1
Download Ontrack Easy Recovery. To ensure a high percentage of data recovery, it is better to use a relatively new version of the utility. Install it on the hard disk partition from which you will not recover files. Keep in mind that the more time has passed since the files were deleted, the less likely they are to be returned successfully.
Step 2
Launch the program and go to the Data Recovery menu. Open the Deleted Recovery item if you want to recover files after deleting, and not after formatting a disk partition. Click on the letter of the desired section in the left menu of the window that opens.
Step 3
Find the File Filter field, click on the arrow in the second paragraph and select the Office Document option. This is necessary to search for files of a specific format. Activate the Complete Scan option by checking the box next to it.
Step 4
Click the Next button and wait a while while the program finds the files it needs and prepares them for recovery. The duration of this procedure depends on the size of the selected hard disk partition.
Step 5
A list of found files will appear in the left menu of the new window. Select the checkboxes that you need to restore. If you are not sure of the correctness of the choice, then select a specific file and click the View File button. Now click the Next button and specify any other local drive or USB drive. Remember that data cannot be recovered to the same partition.
Step 6
Click the Save button and wait for the Easy Recovery program to finish. Open the recovered documents and check their integrity. Try to select Format Recovery mode or use another program if you were unable to recover all the necessary data.
