UltraISO is an indispensable tool for working with images, burning discs, creating virtual drives or bootable flash drives. However, not every novice user clearly understands the algorithms for working with this application.
In the practice of a system administrator and sometimes in the life of every user of a personal computer, it becomes necessary to write an iso image to a USB flash drive. Help in this matter will be provided by the UltraIso program.
Preparing a flash drive for recording
- Initially, we need to prepare the flash drive itself. We insert it into the usb port, go to "my computer".
- The flash drive is defined there.
- Click on it with the right mouse button and select the "Menu", "format" item.
- Be sure to select the FAT32 file system.
- Leave all other settings unchanged.
- If you have several flash drives connected, then pay attention to the choice, in this case I have one, you may have several points of choice. Therefore, you need to select the correct item in the case of several flash drives in the "capacity" section.
- Then click on "start".
- All data will be deleted in this case, so if there is something important on the flash drive, then it is better to copy this data to a backup media in advance.
- Next, the "formatting completed" window will appear.
- Then we close the window.
Preparing the UltraIso program
- Now you need to download the UltraISO program itself. It is better to download the program from the official site, for example, in the Yandex search engine, enter the query “UltraISO official site”.
- On the official website, we turn over and find at the very end of the page the button "download UltraISO + portable".
- As a result, the "UltraISO.zip" archive is downloaded from us.
- Save the downloaded archive in a separate folder on drive D.
- Inside the archive, we have a uiso file indicating the version and the exe extension, run it.
- The installation procedure is standard, there are no pitfalls, as a result you will see an "ultraiso" icon on your desktop.
Writing an image to a USB flash drive
- Run the UltraIso program by double clicking.
- Now we need to load our image in iso format into the program window.
- It is necessary to prepare in advance the image that we will write to the USB flash drive in iso format.
- Click on the "open" button (you can find it by the icon with a yellow folder and a green arrow).
- Then we specify the path to the prepared image, for example, an iso image with the Windows 10 operating system.
- Select the image, click on the "open" button.
- After that, the contents of the image were loaded in the UltraIso program window.
- In this case, we will be able to see the folders and image files in it, while nothing can be deleted or renamed, because this will affect the final result. What do we do next?
- After formatting the flash drive, go to the "bootstrapping" menu item and select the "write hard disk image" item.
- To be convinced of the correct choice of a usb-drive in the case of several flash drives, pay attention to the choice of a flash drive in the "Disk Drive" item.
- The recording method should be "USB-HDD +".
- In the item "Hide Boot partition" set the value "no" and click on the "write" button.
- A tooltip displays a warning that all information will be deleted.
- We agree with the warning and start the process, which can last about 10-20 minutes, depending on the performance of your personal computer, the speed of writing to the USB flash drive.
- And in the end, when the entire recording is over, go to the "my computer" icon and see a USB flash drive with a specific name.
- In it, we can see the contents of the same iso image that we had previously prepared before starting the recording process.
Another important point is that it is advisable to run the UltraISO application with administrator rights. To do this, right-click on the "Ultraiso" icon on the desktop and select "run as administrator". Thus, we will ensure that there are no failures that may arise during the process of writing to a USB flash drive and the result will meet all our expectations.
