When creating and configuring a local network, you can use one of the stationary computers or laptops as a server. This usually saves money because there is no need to purchase a router.

network cables
Instructions
Step 1
Determine which computer or laptop will act as a router. Please note that the selected equipment must always be turned on. Purchase an optional network adapter for this computer. In the case of a laptop, a USB-LAN adapter must be used.
Step 2
Connect the network device to your computer and install drivers for it. Now connect the network cable to it, the other end of which connect to the network hub. If you are creating a network with two devices, then you do not need a hub.
Step 3
Turn on the server computer and wait for the operating system to load. Create an internet connection and configure it. Open the properties of the new connection. Go to Properties. Check the box next to "Allow other network users to use this connection." Select the network formed by the second network adapter.
Step 4
Open the settings for this adapter. Navigate to TCP / IP options. Select the "Use the following IP address" mode. In the next line, write down the value of the IP address of this network card, which will be equal to 123.132.141.1 (you can use another IP).
Step 5
Now turn on any computer connected to your network. Proceed to configure the network adapter that is connected to the server computer or network hub. Open TCP / IP settings. Enter the value of the permanent IP address, which will differ from the IP of the server computer by only the fourth digit, for example 123.132.141.5.
Step 6
Now write in the lines "Default gateway" and "Preferred DNS server" the value of the IP address of the server computer. Perform a similar configuration for the network cards of other computers. Please note that you must enter a new last digit of the IP address each time.
